Accidents happen, weather its a golf ball, baseball, or stray rock from a lawnmower, some flying object has collided with your patio door glass, and it has exploded into a million pieces!
What do you do?!
1. Secure the area/Rope it off
2. Call a reputable glass company (Consider us if you are in our area!)
3. Schedule with them to come out, cleanup, measure and order a new one ASAP!
4. When the glass is ready, they will schedule an install
5. On install day, the remaining old glass is removed, and new glass is installed
This cost of this process can vary greatly, depending on the size and type of glass, but a national average for this service is around $350-450, for a basic re-glaze (replacing the glass unit). Except for a few standard sizes, MOST insulated glass units are a custom size, and will need to be custom cut, insulated, and tempered specifically for your door.
This process GENERALLY takes 2-3 weeks, from the time that it is ordered. Finding a glass company who can come out and measure sooner, rather than later, will usually mean the shortest amount of time between now and when your door is fixed.
It is important to note that if only one side of your double pane glass is broken, the other side cannot be used in the replacement unit. This is a source of confusion, and questions commonly come up regarding this matter. In the manufacturing of a new unit for your door, two new panes of glass will be used
